Table Legs

I'm making some progress with my little table legs. I thought maybe you would like to see how I'm doing them?

The first two on the right were carved from balsa wood. As you can see, one broke and the other is headed for the trash. The balsa was too soft so now I'm using bass wood.

I cut a 1/4 inch square wooden dowel to the right length. Then I marked lines where I wanted my carving to start. I used a razor blade to make notches in the dowel for the design. The hardest part is carving the rounded areas. You can take away but you can't put back! :D

I hope to have these finished today so I can start working on the table top. It will be made of wood. Casey sent me this really great fabric that I'll use for the skirting on the front of the table. Thanks Casey!

Don't forget to check out Marsha's Christmas Ornament swap! Her virtual Christmas tree is so beautiful! There you can visit the blogs of everyone who participated in the swap.
:D

The countdown begins! Only 24 days until Christmas and 22 days until I go to the BEACH! :D

Ornament Exchange

Sherry at Blessings From Our Nest received my Christmas ornament yesterday so now I can show you what I made for her. :D

Sherry and I were partners for Marsha's Ornament Exchange.
Please visit Marsha's blog on December 1st. There will be a virtual Christmas tree showing all of the ornaments made for the exchange!

Marsha’s Musing & Sassy Mini Dolls

The idea for this ornament is not original. I found a photo of an angel ornament online and thought I would try to make one myself.

I really enjoyed making my little doll and trying to figure out how to get her inside this glass ornament!

I made the doll with a wooden bead head and body made out of stiffened cord. Her hair is embroidery floss, her dress is wired ribbon and parts of a silk flower. I made the halo with tiny seed beads and wire. The poinsettia she is holding was made with painted masking tape and is in a silver bead "vase."

Henrietta at Petalbelles is the person who made my inspiration ornament. I emailed Henrietta and asked her permission to share my ornament and her Etsy shop with you. She graciously agreed and was happy that her work inspired me. You must go visit her shop and see all of the beautiful angels and fairies Henrietta has made!

Thank you so much Henrietta for your inspiration! Your little dolls are amazing! I had so much fun making one for Sherry.

Thanks to Marsha too, for hosting this swap. I can't wait to see what everyone else has made!

Christmas is Coming

I'm going to have to take a short break from minis and make my Christmas ornament for Marsha's ornament swap. This morning I dug around in my rusty old toolbox to find the rusty old metal file I needed.

I used the file to make a ribbon rose bow maker following Casey's tutorial.

Here are some other things I will be using to make my ornament.

I can't show you more, but wish me luck with these roses! I wonder how many I'll have to make before I get ONE right?

Hope you have a lovely day!
