Grandma's Ironing Board Table

I finally finished Grandma's ironing board table. :D

I want to thank Peter Tucker for his inspiration and for helping me figure out how to make the leaf support for my table!

This project really had me stumped and Peter graciously sent me photos of how he built the supports for his beautiful table.

Thanks to Peter's kindness, I was able to complete Grandma's table. Thank you Peter!

It will be so much fun to fill the cabinet with accessories. The pattern you see above is from Paper Minis. They have some really cute things. If you sign up for their mailing list you will get a new free project every month.

Now I just need to find Grandma's little iron... and clean up her sewing room. It looks worse than MY craft room right now!

Custom Closets

I've started working on the built-ins for Grandma's sewing room. The angle of the ceiling is making this a bit challenging.

The bashed Michael's hutch needs to be set back a little more. I think it sticks out too much. I haven't decided how I want to paint or wallpaper it yet... Right now it's just taped together.

I want to thank Casey for her ingenious idea for hanging a closet pole. Mine needs to be a little higher. I'll add some shelves and a shoe rack inside later. Not sure if it will have doors or not?

This may be all that gets done today. I do have a real house to clean and laundry to do...

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Grandma Wants More Space!

Just for fun, I put some of Grandma's sewing room furniture and things in the attic to see how it will look.

Grandma is grumpy. She wants more storage. She wants more shelves. She wants to be able to show off her hats without moving them off the cutting table when she wants to cut out a new dress...

I might have to build another house just for Grandma and all of her stuff!

Hope you have a nice evening. I'm going to go make Grandma some tea.

Grandma's "New" Chairs

Grandma will be sitting pretty in her two little chairs. :D

Here is the back view. I may make a little ottoman too? Grandma will need someplace to put her feet up while she reads her sewing magazines.

Now that these are finished, I need to get back to work on the screened door and windows for the attic.

Then there will be wainscoting, baseboards, lights, more furniture... accessories... This is going to take much longer than I thought!

Hope you have a beautiful Sunday,

Grandma's Chair

I took this old burgandy velvet chair apart this morning. I am going to recover it for Grandma's sewing room. It was a wing back chair, but I'm going to do something different.

I'm using parts of the chair for patterns. The rest I'll be making up as I go along.

I haven't decided how I want the arms of the chair to look yet. I do know that I want to try Casey's technique for a pleated skirt.

Casey makes everything look easy. Thanks Casey for all of your great tutorials!

I have to go get ready for work now. I'm happy to have a three day weekend coming up! More time to work on minis! :D

Pistachio

I made a bold decision this morning. The longer I looked at the wallpaper I had installed in the sewing room the more I didn't like it. Too plain, too dirty looking. Not pretty at all.

So, I mixed up a custom pistachio green paint and painted over the paper.

Yes, I wasted $12 on wallpaper. Oh well... Sometimes it's okay to change your mind.

Now I feel much more inspired to move on and install the windows, doors and wainscoting.

I found this little dress at the thrift store. You'll see more of it in the room later. I love the little flowers in the fabric. :D

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Grandma's In The Attic

I wonder how she got up there? Maybe she needs an outside staircase?

Yes, I think she does. I really can't see her climbing a ladder to get to her sewing room!

Thanks Casey. Now I have another project to add to my list.

Grandma's Sewing Room

I finally decided what to do with the attic in the garage. The downstairs will be Grandpa's space and the attic will be Grandma's new sewing room. :D

This wallpaper is the inspiration for this space. I found it at Itsy Bitsy Minis. I love the red hats and shoes! I ordered the tiny print as my background paper and may use a red bamboo placemat as wainscoting?

Itsy Bitsy Minis

I already have a sewing machine and sewing cabinet. I love red and so does Grandma. Here is another inspiration photo found at the Trendy Tree House blog.

Won't this look cute in miniature?! I love the table and shelves. I can't wait to get started!

Hope you have a beautiful day filled with inspiration!
