My lunch "hour" really turns out to be a lunch half hour. I did have time to get the first color on my palm leaves. These will be the BIG trees, 10-12 feet tall!
I cut some other leaves out this morning. They are FAR from finished, plus I need more, lots more.
Tonight I may get more work done? That is, if I can tear myself away from watching the Olympics on TV. :D
Hope you are having a good week!

Rolling Stones Making Messes
I am making messes this morning. All for the cause though. I need more stones for the exterior of the shop. I used the same recipe as before. This time I made three different colors.
I used an old paint brush to texture the clay. I may add something more later. . .
I'm going to wait a while before I cut the stones. Last time I did it too soon and got some drag marks that I didn't like. I'm trying to make a stacked stone wall treatment. Something like this one from TheStoneStore.

Hope you have fun today! Go ahead. Make a mess!

Another messy project I have going today is painting the paper I need for my 12 foot (12 inch) palm trees. This paper is very thin and tears easily. It makes great flowers but I'm not so sure about leaves? I usually make my tropical plants out of masking tape. I may have to try something else? I want to try out my new Martha Stewart fringe scissors too.

Hope you have fun today! Go ahead. Make a mess!

How About a Little Day at the Beach?

This is where I wish I was right now! The only thing missing is a Mojito and Mike, of course.

Minnie is getting a make-over. She has a sun tan now and just needs a new bathing suit. :D

Hope you have a happy day!

Fat Quarter
I just ordered a fat quarter of this fabric for my new dollhouse. The print is a bit large but I think it will work?

Guess where I found it?! The Seam Shoppe in Key West! Perfect.
I need to quit shopping and get back to cleaning up my workroom. But first I'm going to go get some storage containers for my paper, paint and flower making supplies. Right now everything is all over the place and I have no room to work!
Hope you are having fun today!
PS. Casey sent me hundreds of great little flower punched shapes! Can't wait to make more flowers! Thanks again Casey!

I had fun setting up this little scene to show you more of the plants I've made. The background photo is from Sanibel Toot's great blog. I enjoy visiting her when I need a beach fix. Her videos will take you there too!

Love this little flamingo I found. Isn't he just too cute?
Here's the staghorn fern I just finished. I like how it turned out.
I want to make another larger palm tree to add to the one above. I used Leslie Shepherd's tutorial at About.com. Most of these plants will go in the conservatory. Building that is on my "to do" list for the weekend.
Hope you have a sunny day!
Blessings,
Kathi

Palm Tree Tutorial

Pamela asked if I knew of a tutorial for making palm trees in dollhouse scale. This one by Leslie Shepherd at miniatures.about.com is one of the best I've seen.
Of course you can always look at a real palm tree and copy that using one of her techniques. These images are from realpalmtrees.com.

Of course you could always just buy a miniature palm tree. I would rather make something myself!
Blessings,
Kathi
