Work In Progress

I've made some progress on the lighted display cabinet.

I'm using coin cell battery and switch to test the light. It is a 3mm LED light from Evans Designs.  The nice part about the lights I bought is that they can be attached to a 12 volt transformer.  I will be able to wire all of my lights to one power source.  Love that!

I still have some work to do on the "glass" shelves.  The top I made is too small so I'll have to make another one.  Just wanted to show you there IS work being done here!

It's just taking a lot longer than I expected!

Mini Lights

I gathered some supplies together this morning to make mini light fixtures for the coffee shop.

Google gave me lots of ideas!

Pretty cool, huh?    These are some I've started working on.  I need to find the right glue, the right clamps and a whole lot of patience!
Blogger is giving me grief today.  Sorry about the huge empty space here!

Hope you have a great day!

Busy

I've been busy.  Painting paper, cutting stones and now this.  I wanted to try my coffee print fabric on one wall of the shop. I think I like it.

I found this bamboo "flooring" at KMart.  I like how it looks like parquet.  I don't like how busy the pattern looks on the floor.  I think I will cut them up and just use the lighter blocks? It has a mesh backing so it shouldn't be too difficult to do?  I hope.

I received my LED lights from Evans Designs.  Shelly was a huge help with figuring out what I needed.  She even made me some switches so that I can turn the outside, upstairs and downstairs lights on and off separately!   Amazing.  IF I can figure it out?  I love that Shelly said, "if you have any questions,  I'm only an email away!"  :D  Great customer service!  Thanks Shelly!

Hope you have a good day!  Why do the weekends seem to go by so fast?

Exposed Ductwork

I've been thinking about how to add exposed ductwork to the ceiling of the coffee shop.

Here is what I came up with so far.

If I add beams across the ceiling I can hang my ducts from them like this.

I'm using a roll of electrical conduit tubing I discovered at Lowes.  It is 1/2 inch in diameter which is about the same size as real life a/c ducts.

This is a small piece of it in place.  It is hanging with wire that I wrapped around two nails.

I still need to figure out how to run the wiring for the lights.  I guess I should do that first?

I want "pot" lights and two hanging fixures on this ceiling.  I will be using LED lights from Evans Designs.

Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!  My kids took me out for lunch at Red Robin.  YUM!

My daughter and I also stopped at Michaels.   I got the Martha Stewart fringe scissors I've been wanting to try.   I forgot my 40% off coupon but the sweet cashier gave me the discount anyway!

Maybe it was her way of saying "Happy Mother's Day!"  :D

Inspiration

I've been Googling. Found this photo. Not sure I can pull this off, but I'm going to try!

Let's see. I'll need wood, black paint, props and accessories, fabric, cardstock, flooring, chairs, lights...

Time to get busy! :D

Swimming Pool

Now that the house is finished, I'm working on the swimming pool. I decided to add a light in the pool so Mike and Minnie can go for a swim at night.

I LOVE swimming at night. It is so relaxing! This is just one inspiration photo I found here.

Looks so inviting, doesn't it? Wish I could go for a swim right now but I have to go to work.

Hope you enjoy your day!

Beach Basket

I made this little beach basket for my daughter who loves the beach just as much as I do.

I found a navy blue basket at Michael's that is about the size of a shoe box. Then I started adding things to make a beach scene. First I made a palm tree. I LOVE to make palm trees!

I used my painting for the background. Then I made a sand dune with styrofoam covered with real sand from my last trip to Florida. Spray adhesive works great for this.

I built the dock out of Starbuck's coffee stirrers and wooden dowels. The fence is a bamboo placemat that I painted and weathered. Then I added some real driftwood, shells and sand. The sea oats are made from real pampas grass flowers.

I like how Sharyn's basket looks in a different light. At night, the fire really flickers and looks so real!

I used the LED fire kit by Evan's Designs. It can be ordered with a small coin battery that has a switch attached. I hid the wiring. The battery and switch are on the back of the basket so that it can be turned on and off easily.

I bought the sea gull from Nicky. Nicky make the most perfect little birds. Now she is working on other things, like dolls and dragons and more magical things!

If you haven't visited Evan's Designs you need to go there. They have the best customer service and prices. I bought another fire kit for myself. I think there should be an outdoor fireplace next to the garage. :D

Hope you have a great weekend. If you can't go to the beach, make one yourself!

Lights

I'm working on the lights for the garage again. I purchased the LEDs from Evans Designs. I'll be making all of the fixtures myself.

The outdoor lamps are finished. I'm still trying to figure out how to wire and hang the shop light. I want to thank Brae for her great tips and advice.

Brae is busy with her entry for the Greenleaf Spring Fling. I'm thinking she just might win two years in a row! Thanks Brae for taking the time to help me with my project.

My next step will be measuring and then drilling holes in the walls for the outdoor lamps. Then I can see where the wires will go and how to hide them. Again, Brae has some great ideas for that!

These are some beads and findings I've collected to make a some lights for Grandma's attic. Would it be too strange to have a chandelier in a garage? :D

Grandma will need a sewing lamp too. I'm still thinking about that one. Maybe if I concentrated on ONE thing, I might get ONE thing finished?

True Blue

Yesterday I poured some navy blue paint into a bowl of white primer. I mixed it up and painted one light coat over the red on the garage. Quite by accident, I think I've found the perfect finish! It looks a bit weathered, but not so much as to upset Grandma.

I decided the lantern I made from the wooden fan will look better on my modern house. To me, it is too "oriental" for the garage.

So, I set about designing and making this little gooseneck light. It's not quite finished. I may paint it red or try a galvanized look? It is also looking a bit too large. Time to use the Miniature Scale Calculator again! These lamps are my inspiration.

I love my little LEDs. No transformer, no tape wire, no plugs. Just a battery with a switch to turn them on and off.

I'm still thinking about the shop light. Well actually, I got distracted. I may get back to that later today?

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Little Lantern

I thought I would try to make a little lantern for the outside of the garage. I'm waiting for my LED lights from Evans Designs.

I used parts of a wooden fan I got at WalMart. Casey found them first. Lots of possibilities with these!

Just checking for size here. I may change the top? We'll see when I get the lights. I'm planning to make four of these.

I have an idea for a shop light too. That is still more in my head than put together!

Hope you have a bright, bright sunshiny day!

Gift From Sherry and a Busy Day

I joined Marsha's Christmas Ornament Swap and Sherry @ Blessings From Our Nest is my partner. I had not met Sherry before so I stopped by her blog. She was having a give-a-way! Guess who won?!!! ME! :D

Sherry made this beautiful tote bag just for me. I love the fabrics and it is just the right size too. Even the pretty card she sent matches the bag. :D Thank you so much Sherry! I love it!

I'm still planning my Christmas ornament for Marsha's exchange. I'd better hurry. I've only got one week to get it in the mail!

Speaking of hurrying. I was in a big hurry today to start sawing away at my house. I went outside to sweep off the deck so I could set up my sawhorses and get the tools out. Well, one thing led to another. I swept off the deck, then I pulled some weeds, raked some leaves and trimmed the roses. It's so beautiful outside here today! I really didn't want to come back inside. :D

I don't know if I'll get back to work on the house today? I want to watch the Cincinnati Bengals beat Atlanta. Things aren't going well right now! My daughter and son-in-law are at the game. I'm hoping to see them on TV?! Then I need to go over to their house and let their dogs outside for a while...

Plus, I don't want to miss Nikki's sale on Etsy! There is a little pumpkin pot over there that has MY name on it! :D

I did rewire the teeny tiny house this morning. Sherry at Evan's Designs sent me replacements plus extra lights and shrink tubing! No charge! I'm trying to figure out how to hide the wires now. More thinking. No doing.

I slept ALL day yesterday and today is so busy! Maybe soon I'll have something to show you?
