Decisions, Decisions - Update!

I went fabric shopping at EQuilter.com today. They allow you to save your choices on a design board for later. I'm trying to decide what fabrics to use in the coffee shop?

I like the first one for the wall behind the counter. The next two might make nice drapes? The others may work for furniture, pillows or rugs? There are just too many patterns. I want them all! :D

It's really hard for me to wrap my head around these earthy colors. I do like them. I want to get my fabric before I buy paint etc. Which ones do you like?

I'm working on a chair right now. Here is my inspiration. I'm sorry, but I can't remember where I found this photo.

Here is my attempt at making a pattern for these chairs. I may try using colored fun foam with a wooden or wire frame? I've got more cutting to do...

Speaking of chairs. How about these beauties?!!!

HomeDesignerCorner.com

Update: I just placed my fabric order. Thought you might like to see what I decided on. I had to add the pretty turquoise fabric! You know I couldn't have a dollhouse that didn't have some blue in it somewhere! LOL

I already have some golden fabric in my stash. Now I'm off to look at paint samples!

Sweet dreams!

Watch How It Works

I'm cutting paper again this morning. I found an idea for making modern chairs that I like. More on them later....

Along the way I found this website. Another Studio For Design in London. They sell the cutest
pop up cards! Watch how they work!

Now how cute is that?! :D

Coffee Anyone?

The more I thought about the theater, the more I realized that it just can't be done with this little house kit. I would have to make it in 1:144 scale to have it look right!

I may do that someday? For now, the "theater," aka "funeral home", aka "wedding planner's office" has decided to be a coffee shop!

It will still have a small stage for open mic night and/or Improv. There will be more seating and an outdoor dining area. I haven't decided what to do with the loft area...

I've been to some really cool coffee shops. There are several here in Birmingham that I love to visit. There are now more ideas swimming around in my head! LOL

Crestwood Coffee Company above. Lucy's Coffee and Tea below. Two of my favorites!

Tonight I will be going to see an Improv show at the Virginia Samford Theater downtown. I will take my camera for sure!

Hope you have a wonderful day! Do something that will put a smile on your face! :D

Pinned

Casey did another great tutorial yesterday on how to make draperies. Thanks Casey!

Last night before I went to bed I gave it a try. I just used some muslin I had on hand to practice. Somehow, mine don't look anything like Casey's. I need MORE practice!

One of the long sides isn't folded the same way as the other. I don't know WHAT happened to the "festoon" that is supposed to go in the center?!

I'm going back over to Casey's to see if she can help me. It's a long way from my house to Arizona but worth the trip! :D

Hope you have a great day!

Inspiration

I've been Googling. Found this photo. Not sure I can pull this off, but I'm going to try!

Let's see. I'll need wood, black paint, props and accessories, fabric, cardstock, flooring, chairs, lights...

Time to get busy! :D

About Face!

I have yet another idea for my Creatin' Contest kit! I just found this beautiful pin at Etsy.

I've changed my mind about what to do with this project so many times! Now I have finally decided what I want to do. :D

I want to make something different but also something that I would enjoy keeping or giving away once the contest is over.

My son-in-law is a natural born comedian. He keeps us all in stitches constantly! He recently joined an Improv Comedy Group.

I've started collecting new ideas.

Looks like I will be visiting Casey to learn how to make curtains like this!

I feel like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders. NOW I can get to work! Whew!

Hope you have a wonderful day! :D

The White Bench

I had to remake the cushion for my bench. The fabric I tried yesterday was too thick and the cardboard was too wide.

This is how I made the frame and the seat cushion. I covered the cardboard with a piece of white felt then used some white interlock fabric over that.

I did a Google search to find out how to seal the silver Rub 'n Buff I used on the frame of the bench. It will rub off on your fabric if you don't seal it. Trust me on this one. I just used clear nail polish.

Again, I used my paper trimmer to line things up. The MicroMark gluing jig really needs a graph on the bottom!

IF I can get the glue to hold my bench will be finished!

Hope you will try something new today.

I found this site with interesting tutorials that could be used for minis.

I like the one, by Julia McGee, that uses craft foam to make "leather." :D

Question of the Day

Did you ever see something in real life and try to make it in miniature? Of course you have!

When I didn't turn out the way you wanted, did you post about it anyway?

I think I might be the only one around here who does that! lol

Here's to successful projects with perfect resuts! Here! Here?!

Bar Books

I made some little books for the kitchen bar cabinet this morning.

They won't fit where I had planned to use them so I made a little shelf too. I'm not sure why my camera won't focus today? Grrrrr...

These are the first books I've made with pages inside. They are blank. I want to try making readable books with pictures someday.

Not sure what I'll work on next? I need to get busy with the Creatin' Contest project. I'm planning to "bash the kit" a bit and need to be sure I do it right! Time to get out the ruler and graph paper!

Hope you are having a good weekend!

If Only You Try

Casey had much better luck with her faux enameled leaves than I'm having! Maybe it's because she is ambidextrous? :D

CVS pharmacy had a buy one get one free sale on Revlon nail polish. I found some "Spanish Moss" green and "Calla Lily" white.

We both followed the video tutorial by Stacy Hofman at Creating Dollhouse Miniatures. I love this blog. There is always something new to inspire you!

I would rather have a more transparent look on my leaves. Here I used Americana Triple Thick glaze. This might work?

I really need more practice. Especially if I'm going to to make a tree!?

I love Dr. Seuss and yesterday was his birthday. This is one of my favorite quotes. :D

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Roses

I've been wanting to try to make miniature roses. I used Carol's tutorial from True2Scale. These are the steps it takes to make them.

Here are my finished roses. The vase was a gift from Jill at Little Nest Studio. Thanks Jill!

If you want to make roses, pick a day when you have lots of time and lots of patience! :D Thank you Carol for such a detailed tutorial! I may try to make more in other colors...

Fun Find :D

I have found the perfect thing for my desk at work! A little fish house!

It is an aquarium! You can put real live fish inside! It measures 12x8x10 inches.

FishcribZ! on Ebay

It even lights up with LEDs! So cute!
