But You Promised!

Minnie is starting to sound a little bit like Tessie. The first thing I heard this morning was, "but you promised to show pictures of me and Mike too!"

She kept going on about how many pictures I've posted of her house and how few I've done of her. Then she told me that I had forgotten to put the gazing ball in the front yard too. She got Mike out there right away to do that. Guess she figured I was never going to get around to it?

When that was done, Minnie started whining. "You forgot to make my rug. You promised me a rug for the living room."

So, to try to keep the peace and fulfill my promise, I started working on Minnie's rug this morning.

It will be 1/2 inch square and fit nicely in front of the sofa. I'm using part of a pattern from this counted cross stitch book. 101 Tiny Houses by Linda Gillum. I love this book! It is filled with adorable little houses to stitch.

If I can get the needle threaded again, I'll get back to work. Hope you have a nice day!

House Warming Give-A-Way - CLOSED

My teeny tiny house is finished! To celebrate, I'm having a house warming party and a give-a-way! (No, you won't be winning this little house. I couldn't bear to part with it!)

If you comment on THIS post by Saturday, November 20th, this is what you might win! There may be a little surprise tucked in too.

Three House of Miniature Furniture Kits
1:12 scale

They are WAY to big for my teeny house, plus it's already furnished. :D

I started building this house in September and it has taken me almost two months to complete! It began with inspiration from Nell Corkin, Pat Carlson, Tracy Topps and other miniaturists who make tiny houses. I truly admire the amazing work of these artists!

I'm sure I'll make another house in 1:144 scale someday. It was my most challenging project so far but also the most fun. Thank you for following my progress and encouraging me to keep going. I really appreciate the comments and suggestions you've made along the way.

I thought it would be fun to thank you by having a little give-a-way. I'm sure you noticed that the prize is NOTHING I've made. This time, it's something for YOU to make! I'm tired of making things right now! LOL

I'm going to get out the sawhorses, the jig saw and carpenter's square and start working on a much larger project next!

Hope you have a lovely day! Don't forget to comment here for a chance to win the give-a-way.

Almost Finished

My teeny house is almost finished! If I could only find those little chairs I made for the garden...
Things keep disappearing around here.

Little Landscaping

I did a little landscaping on my teeny tiny house this morning. I need to add more flowers, leaves and branches to the crepe myrtle and place the flagstones. What do you think so far?

Suggestions? Maybe two little flower pots on each corner of the porch?

Chairs for the Garden

Minnie came outside this morning to show you the little chairs I made for her garden.

I used a hole punch for the seats, part of a wooden fan (Thanks Casey for the idea!) and wire for the legs. They are not quite 1/2 inch tall and that's a bit too big!

Thanks for your suggestions about the slate stone sidewalk. I'll do that after I finish the landscaping.

Here's an aerial view so you can see the scale of this project. Teeny tiny!

PS. I have 558 hole punch reinforcements left if anyone needs ONE?

Hope you have fun making minis today! :D

Tiny Palm Tree

You know I just couldn't make a house without adding a little palm tree. :D

I ordered some colored ground foam to finish the window boxes and landscaping. Not sure about the flagstones. Do you think they are too big?

Only One

I only need ONE of these little things. Do you think I can find one anywhere in my house or my daughter's house? NO.

Guess I'll have to go to Office Depot tomorrow and buy a pack of 200! I really just need ONE.

Something must be done about this stained glass window. I'm just about finished with this little house. I have just a few more things to do. :D

I did finish my Christmas ornament for Sherry and put it in the mail. I'll show you some photos after she receives it. It was really fun to make and I learned some new techniques too.

I received my big box of half scale furniture from Gina today. Oh my goodness! So many little treasures! I'm not sure I can wait until next Christmas to get a house for these things? I think I like half scale minis almost as much as the "big" and "tiny" ones!

Hope you had a beautiful day!

Window Boxes

You were right. The window boxes really do look cute. As for FLOWERS in these window boxes? You've GOT to be kidding!

Lamp Works

I've been working on the wiring for my tiny house. I got the lamp to work in the bedroom but the ceiling light in the kitchen went out.

If I hadn't decided to put lights in this little place I would be finished by now!

Hope you have a lovely day,

Completely Furnished

Upstairs and down!

Just a few more touch ups and then I'll glue everything in place.

I have the lights working again. I decided to try to make a little lamp for the bedroom. I'll show you that later...

Hope you have a wonderful day!

More Mini Furniture

I found this previously painted 1/4" square wooden dowel this morning. I don't remember what I had planned to use it for, OR why I had painted it green?

As you can see, it sparked some ideas for more furniture for my little house.

I started thinking about how to paint these pieces? Then I saw this.

Lulu paints the cutest folk art furniture! Love that little table in the front of this photo!

I'm thinking that something like this would be perfect for my tiny house? I just might have to go back to Michaels and get more of those extra fine point pens! More colors, more fun!

Hope you have a happy day!

Tired Eyes

My eyes are very tired this evening. You can see why here. There is a toothpick in the photo just to show you how tiny this furniture is!

The bed is made from card stock folded around a block of wood. The chairs are slip covered with white fabric! The table needs some adjusting and paint.

I was going to get my clay out and make new appliances and a pedestal sink and tub for the bathroom. But now, as the clouds roll in and the sun is about to set, I think my eyes need a break!

I used Anna Carin's miniature tutorials to make the table and chairs. She has free DIY patterns and instructions in all scales. The ones I used are for 1:144 scale furniture.

Another great mini-mini site I found is by Frances Armstrong. She passed away in 2008 but her site is being maintained. There is a wealth of information there for beginners, like me.

I'm nearly finished with the building part of my little house. I'm going to try to do some landscaping around it too.

IF I ever get it finished, I'll have to find the perfect place to display it in my BIG beach house! There may be more of these little houses in my future. A tiny modern house perhaps?

My eyes are telling me to go do something larger for a while! They just want to keep closing for some reason...

Hope you had a lovely day!

Downstairs

This is the downstairs of my teeny tiny house. Sadly, there won't BE any stairs. There is just no room for them!

I've been having fun today. Hope you are too?

Window and Floors

I was hoping my new black pen would work for "stained glass." It does! Oh, the possibilities!

These are the floors, upstairs and down. Still thinking about the walls. It really takes a LOT of thinking to make something this small!

So glad it's Friday, aren't you?

Thursday, September 23

Painting on Plastic

I went to Michael's yesterday to get a few things for my little house project. I found some really cool pens that will write on plastic, glass and just about anything else.

They are Sharpie Poster Paint pens. They are oil based, water resistant and opaque. I bought the extra fine point pens in black and white. I tried the white one on clear plastic and cellophane. Then I made some windows for my little house.

The more things I add to the house, the more things keep falling off! Again, I can see little things I need to fix. I don't like the tiny window at the top. Maybe a round one would look better?

I won't tell you how long this took so far. I don't want to remember that part.

Hope you have a really good day.

Let's Build Something Together

I'll bet that Lowe's never thought that one of their Eddie Bauer paint chips would ever be used for a dollhouse porch. I found it to be the perfect thing for my teeny tiny house!

It's called Quartz Stone Granite and really looks like cement. There are mica crystals in it so it even has a bit of sparkle. :D

The porch will have columns to support the roof.
I can't attach it permanently until I finish the walls inside. The lattice is a piece of perforated cross stitch paper. I still need to add "glass" to the windows and make some shutters.

When that's finished I'll turn the house over and start working on the interior. That will be the really tricky part! Hopefully, there will be two rooms downstairs and two rooms upstairs. I'm still thinking about where to put the stairs?!

Hope you have a happy day!

House In A Box

I made the flooring with colored pencils. The black and white kitchen "tiles" are a little too big. I love the zebra rug and gray carpet. :D

Here are the kitchen appliances ready to go in the oven. They are a bit wonky, but remember this is my first attempt! LOL

The fridge is 3/4 inch tall and 1/2 inch wide! This is SO much fun!

Hope you have a nice little day!
