Plant In Progress

I just couldn't let another day go by without making minis! I started making a bird of paradise plant today. I like the leaves. The flower? Not so much...

I used masking tape and florist wire for the leaves. All I had to make the flower was construction paper.

Have you made mini flowers before? What do you use? I thought about trying some crepe paper. Do you think that would work? I'm not good at working with clay, but that may be another thing to try?

I'm planning to wrap the stems with tape and then arrange the leaves in a clay pot. I'm going to try making a palm plant too. That should be easier?

If you want to see some really pretty miniature flowers, check out Tallulah-Belle's Originals on Etsy! Gorgeous!!!

Dylan is better today. He even ate a little bit and so far so good. Hope his tummy is settled down now. I love my little buddy! We're off to bed now. Hope you have a good night.

Blessings, Kathi

Kathi I think it looks amazing!!! I have read and heard that tissue paper is good for miniature flowers, but I am not certain. Tallulah-Belle's flowers are indeed phenomenal. But that bird of paradise of your is pretty darned spiffy too! =D

Kathi I'm so glad Dylan is feeling better. Please keep us posted!

You should try using quilling paper for the flower pieces.

It's also handy for other minis. :-)

I think it looks great, Kathi. A trick I learned from Jayne (Tallulah-Belle) is to use painted coffee filters for flowers and leaves.

Hi Kathi

De beat me to it. I used to use coffee filters but now use other kinds of paper.

The key is it has to be flexible and very very thin to look realistic. I've tried some quilling paper and some is fine and others are too thick.

Thanks so much for mentioning my shop and flowers xxx

Your BOP is very good...you should have seen my first attempt. You are definitely on the right track. Anyhow, I have something for you and will email you hopefully a little later on today ;-)
