I'm trying to figure out how to make a carnation. It's been trial and error so far...
I found that the table paper we use on our exam tables at work doesn't tear like regular tissue paper. I'm going to try painting it to see how that works too.
Don't laugh. If you have tried making your own flowers, you know it's not easy! Back to the drawing board...
I hope to have something better to show you soon? I would really like to have more than one carnation for my garden!
Blessings, Kathi
Thanks for all of your sweet comments about my Aunt Adelaide. I really do appreciate your kindness!

Kathi, I learned to make carnations in mini years ago. We did it by using silk ribbon. If you pull a thread at one edge of the ribbon, it will automatically gather up. As you pull, a carnation automatically forms. Then you simply put a bit of glue on the pulled edge and cut it off. Almost instant carnation...Unfortunately, I didn't learn how to make it with exam table paper.LOL
Hi Kathi, I send you a tutorial on how to make carnations.
Greetings.

At least you're trying, I'm just making excuses for not to do any flowers :D And Casey's tip is worth of try, no small petals to glue :D
A bazillion years ago, my mother made full-size artifical carnations from wood fiber (it was all the rage before silk flowers took over...very realistic compared to the only alternative which was plastic). Anyway, the flower consisted of multiple fan-folded circles, scrunched and then all wired together. Tried that in miniature once...bleh...I like Casey's idea better.

I think mini flowers are really hard- your first carnations don't look too bad to me :) I do like Casey's idea though- I want to see if you try it out :)
Practice, practice, practice lol.
It looks good though Kathi.
I've never made carnations so dont' have any tips sorry.
I haven't tried flowers yet. Your look great for the first time! I'll have to try Casey's method.
I have some kits to do but... I'm afraid.
So, I think you are brave in trying and I liked it. It looks good.
Kathi, I have tried to make carnations! Cut a strip of paper towel, one hand along with zigzag scissors, then rolled strip very tight and firm with glue, then fixed to the stem ... curling just the surface of the flower with your finger, here is the carnation is done! the first is not always perfect, but worth trying!
kisses, Caterina
