What kind of plumber doesn't carry the right tools and part with him?!! NOT a good plumber!
Here is my email to my landlady this morning -
No PUN intended, but now I can say that I, "DO DO PLUMBING!"
I went to Home Depot yesterday. I spent $16 on a new p trap and a pair of channel lock pliers. This morning I removed the old and installed the new. The bathroom drain is FIXED! Done. I will keep checking, but so far it's not leaking.
The little gizmo that goes up and down to shut the drain is all rusty and not working. I may try to replace that too. I'm not sure if you can buy those separately or if they only come with new faucets. I'll check.
You can cancel the plumber!
Blessings,
Kathi
Don't be afraid to try something new! Even if it is something messy or something "only men" can do! :D

Totally with you on this one sweets. So many times I've waited for tradesmen to fix something and then spent a week without water/gas/electric. I've resorted to learning how to be self sufficient to.
You should send a bill to your landlady =0)
I'm hoping my landlady will allow me to take at least $16 off my next rent check! :D
Absolutely! And don't forget to bill her for labor (plumbers charge exorbitant hourly rates!) :-)
Hoorah for you Kathi! I hope your landlady appreciates this.
Hugs, Drora
Good for you! Your landlady should pay you handsomely for fixing her problem. $16 off??? you're saving her a lot more than that!
Way to Go, Kathi!!!!I will call you the next time I need a plumber and Walter is golfing.LOL
Muy bien hecho Kathy!
Bravo!
Un abrazo

Too funny! There is a danger in knowing too much - once when I was trying to put a sewing table into my car to move it, my then husband, who is a mechanical engineer , did a diagram to show me that it absolutely would not fit. My teenage son and I looked at each other, and with a little bit of effort , fit it in without incident.
Oh Kathi, I really admire you!
Thanks! Jennifer, your comment made me laugh. Sometimes there IS a danger in knowing too much! :D
I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous! Google knows ALL!
Awesome. This goes to show that there isn't much we can't do if we just set our minds to it.
one word...Youtube tutorials...ok that's two words but that's how I learned how to fix my computer and add memory to it
I go there for all my tutorial needs (for real world stuff)

Your landlady is fortunate to have a responsible lessee like you. With your skills in plumbing repair, she need not hire the services of a professional plumber. It’s a good thing that you were able to immediately fix the problem with your bathroom sink. It is also essential to have a list of reputable plumbing services in your house, this can help you have a direct access with plumbers in case problems will arise.
